Funding

The Sarvari Research Trust began life in 2002 as a way of continuing the research of Dr. David Shaw.  It sought to sell small quantities of excess seed potato to a well known UK seed house in the beginning but is now moving towards a position of self sufficiency and even profitability in the next year or two.

This was our first venture into crowd funding and it was a great success.  We raised £2000 in 2012 to  continue our research and started our crowd of supporters

Flushed with success, we launched another crowd fund appeal in 2014 with the aim of raising working capital to develop Sarpo Potatoes Ltd to bring our “potatoes with a difference” to market. This time we offered to accept both loans and donations and paid our crowd interest in seed potatoes.  It worked and we raised the £20,000 target which was instantly doubled by a grant from the “A Team Challenge”

Going Forward

We aim to break even in 2019 and then to move into profit and pay back all our fantastic lenders!
